As plastics themselves are subject to an ageing process , the containers are usually designed for a maximum theoretical service life of 25 years. Depending on the medium, the service life can also be limited to a shorter period, the installation of comparative samples for interim material tests and / or repeat tests with internal inspection of the containers may have been specified.

The expiry of the specified service life does not require the immediate replacement of the plastic containers. However, an expert inspection of the interior condition of the storage container for chemical and mechanical damage is required.

KUSTAN prepares the necessary documentation for a change notification. The entire documentation is submitted to an expert organization (e.g. TÜV Rheinland Industrieservice GmbH). These tests are carried out by plastics experts authorized by the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) in Berlin or other qualified employees of expert organizations.

Containers for the storage of substances hazardous to water are always dimensioned and approved for a predetermined storage chemical.

This is based on the "Media Lists 40" of the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) in Berlin. Chemicals and chemical mixtures not included in the list are evaluated with regard to their chemical resistance to the construction material. Corresponding statements are prepared by the specialist departments of the semi-finished product manufacturers.

A change of storage media during the service life cycle of a storage container always requires a change of use of the container concerned. The physical and chemical properties of the new storage medium must be taken into account accordingly and the determined load values compared.

KUSTAN prepares the necessary conversion documentation and static recalculation as the basis for a required change notification. The entire documentation is submitted to an inspection organization (e.g. TÜV Rheinland Industrieservice GmbH) for inspection. Any necessary on-site inspection, including an internal inspection, is carried out by the expert organization's qualified staff.
