The use of aggressive chemicals is essential for the manufacture, processing and refinement of many industrial products. These substances can pose a considerable risk to people and the environment if handled improperly. In order to minimize the risks when handling water-polluting substances, clear regulations have been issued in the Water Resources Act (WHG) based on the principle of concern.
In terms of water protection, the scope of application of these regulations includes both LAU facilities (storage, filling, handling) and HBV facilities (production, treatment, use) of substances hazardous to water - in the commercial sector as well as in public facilities.
